The Knights of Columbus presented teddy bears for children to the North Myrtle Beach Police Department during the City Council meeting on Monday.
Jim LeVan, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 7122, told Council Members and City residents, that the Knights Ministry buys the teddy bears for the police to distribute to needy, emotionally distraught, or homeless children to give them some comfort. LeVan said the Knights of Columbus are proud to partner with the NMBPD.
Officer Amy Vicks, the Community Engagement Officer for NMBPD said this partnership has existed for many years. Each day during crew call, officers grab a couple of teddy bears to take on patrol, and the Department typically gives away about 100 teddy bears a year.
