The mayor of North Myrtle Beach, Marilyn Hatley, proclaimed July 20, 2022, Sir Teddy Day.
SIR TEDDY DAY
WHEREAS, Teddy was abandoned at the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach overnight on July 20, 2021; and
WHEREAS, he had a large external tumor, for which we immediately sought veterinary care. After a thorough exam and many tests, Teddy was diagnosed with terminal cancer, which was affecting several of his organs and was the culprit of the external tumor; and
WHEREAS, the Humane Society team promised to make Teddy feel loved and be pain free for the rest of his days; and
WHEREAS, with the help of Meaghan, one of the managers at the Humane Society, Teddy made a bucket list of adventures that he wanted to do before he crossed the Rainbow Bridge; and
WHEREAS, our community and people across the United States rallied together to ensure that Teddy checked every single item off of his list before he decided to walk across the Rainbow Bridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Marilyn Hatley, Mayor of the City of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, along with the North Myrtle Beach City Council designate July 20, 2022 as Sir Teddy Day in memory of Sir Teddy and in honor of all abandoned and homeless pets. May we remember that our treatment of animals is a direct reflection of our hearts as a community.
Dated this 16th day of May 2022
Mayor Hatley urges citizens and visitors to join in the special observance of Sir Teddy Day.
