ANNUAL BAREFOOT SWING BRIDGE INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE
During the week of December 6, 2021, the South Carolina Department of Transportation will perform its annual inspection of the Barefoot Swing Bridge. The annual inspection is required by the Federal Highway Administration. Those who use the bridge can expect delays and several openings without marine traffic passing. There will also be a boat stationed under the bridge fitted with a man-lift to aid in the inspection of the underside of the bridge.
Annual maintenance of the Barefoot Swing Bridge begins the week of January 3, 2022. Vehicular traffic will be reduced to one lane. Weather permitting, the work will take about 30 days to complete.
