NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The City of North Myrtle Beach continues to monitor Tropical Storm Debby.
Tornado Watch in effect until 11 PM tonight.
Flood Watch remains in effect until Friday morning due to projected rain forecast.
Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect until further notice.
High Surf Advisory in effect through Friday.
High Rip Current Risk remains in effect though this evening.
Landfall is projected overnight tonight, around Bulls Bay / McClellanville area.
We will see tropical storm wind gusts increase overnight, as well.
The Storm Surge Watch was canceled earlier today. We are looking at possible 1-2 feet of tidal surge with our high tide later tonight. We have personnel closely monitoring this.
Our Public Works Department has been on top of monitoring storm water overflows and drainage ponds. We expect to see flooding more persistent along Ocean Boulevard in the areas of 11th-18th Avenues North and 11th-14th Avenues South as the night carries on.
We will be monitoring wind gusts overnight and possible power outage impacts.
We will see some rain continuing to linger tomorrow, but if the trend of dry air holds, it should begin to decrease late Thursday with some isolated showers providing heavier rainfall lingering into Friday morning.
The Police Department will be coordinating with Public Works and the Fire Department regarding setting up for road closures (as needed).
City Offices and Facilities will remain open.
The Sanitation Schedule will remain as normal for now.
Music on Main has been canceled for Thursday, August 8.
Junior Lifeguard Camp has been canceled for Thursday, August 8.
Movies at McLean has been postponed from Friday, August 9 to Friday, August 23.

Do NOT remove any manhole or clean out covers. When these covers are removed during weather events, the sewer system floods.
Do NOT drive or walk through flooded roads/areas.
